Columbia College women's soccer loses first American Midwest Conference game

The Columbia College women's soccer team lost its first game in American Midwest Conference play, falling 2-0 to Lyon College on Saturday in Batesville, Ark.

The loss drops the Cougars to 3-7-0 overall and 2-1 against American Midwest Conference competition, while Lyon moved to 3-6-1 and 1-1 in conference play.

Lyon freshman Hannah Osmon started the scoring with a goal in the sixth minute. Lyon scored again in the 41st minute when freshman Maria Monterroso scored on a corner kick. The Cougars were shut out despite out-shooting Lyon 25-12.

Columbia College plays next against Hannibal-LaGrange University at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at R. Marvin Owens Soccer Stadium.
