THE WEEK IN PHOTOS: Wind turbines, district softball and rock climbers

COLUMBIA — Last week, images of the building of a wind turbine near the Old Beef Barn and rock climbers at Capen Park were the best photos captured by Missourian photographers. Photographers also captured photos of Rock Bridge and Hickman district softball games.

Kile Brewer captured this photo of Hickman softball players congratulating Shannon Greene after her two-run home run during the district championship game Friday. The Kewpies beat Jefferson City in a 7-0 shutout.

In this photo by Amy Stroth, Shelby Wilson of Columbia wrestles a calf to the ground in his backyard arena in late September. Wilson, who competes in rodeo events as a calf roper, is a team captain of the Rock Bridge football team.

Alli Inglebright took this photo of Joe Plevel starting his climb up a cliff at Capen Park. A small group went to the park, which is a popular spot for local climbers, Friday afternoon.

Stuart Palley captured this photo of the Rock Bridge softball players wearing matching yellow socks during their Thursday night district semifinal game against Hickman. The Kewpies pulled through with a 4-3 victory over the Bruins.
