Columbia College volleyball team defeats Harris-Stowe State

COLUMBIA — The Columbia College women's volleyball team won 25-9, 25-6, 25-13 Monday at Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis.

The Cougars, ranked No. 3 in the latest NAIA top-25 poll, improved to 19-1 overall and 9-0 in the American Midwest Conference. The loss drops the Hornets to 0-17 overall and 0-9 in conference action.

Trinity Ojo, Kahoriz Feliz and Katie Brecheisen each notched five kills for Columbia College. Senior setter Paula Ferreira tallied 29 assists.

Senior libero Elena Berroteran, who added nine digs and six aces, was named the American Midwest Conference Volleyball Player of the Week on Monday after totaling 31 digs in two contests and logging five service aces in competition last week.

The Cougars are set to play again at 6 p.m. Wednesday night against Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis. The Spartans are undefeated this season and ranked No. 20 in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
