COLUMBIA —Saturday's Missouri football game against Alabama will bring something more than the No. 1-ranked team in college football to Faurot Field. Country music singer and Missouri native Sara Evans will sing the national anthem before the game.

Evans was born in Boonville and raised near New Franklin. At 5 years old she began singing, and at 16, she started singing at a club in Columbia, according to MU's athletics website.

Evans is married to Jay Barker, a former Alabama quarterback. Evans and Barker currently live in Birmingham, Ala.

The game will begin at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. It will air nationally on CBS.
