Columbia College women's soccer defeats William Woods

The Columbia College women's soccer team defeated William Woods 2-1 on Tuesday in Fulton.

The Cougars scored in the first half after a corner kick banked off one of the William Woods players. The goal was credited as an own goal against William Woods.

Columbia College's second goal came in the second half from Kelly Ross. William Woods' lone goal came from a penalty kick in the last minute of the game.

Goalkeeper Erica Ramirez earned the win for the Cougars, notching four saves..

The Cougars' record moves to 6-7 overall and 4-1 in the American Midwest Conference. William Woods falls to 6-5-1 and 2-1 in the conference.

The Cougars are set to play next against Harris-Stowe State at 4:30 p.m. Friday at R. Marvin Owens Soccer Stadium.
