FROM READERS: Football fans share one-word feelings about Missouri's season

Earlier this year, many Missouri fans were excited about the 2012 season and the team's introduction to the Southeastern Conference. After a rocky 3-3 start and three consecutive conference losses, some fans' moods are less cheerful than before.

We invited fans to tell us their feelings about Missouri football.

We asked them what one word best describes :

The most common description of how fans feel right now? Disappointed.

At the beginning of the season, most people indicated that they were excited, though a few were more apprehensive about the upcoming season.

Fans were less united in describing how they'd feel at the end of the season, with some vowing to remain loyal and others seeing the future as more bleak. A funny answer that a couple of people offered: basketball.

We also invited people to offer a message up to the football team, and two themes emerged.

Some fans were disappointed in the offense and coaching staff.

"Get a professional collegiate coaching staff and get Pinkel and staff out of town yesterday," Bruce Barton wrote.

"Offensive play calling is not the best," Doc Lounis wrote.

"Missouri could not compete in the Big-12 playing like they are right now, it has nothing to do with the SEC," Chris Ricks wrote. "The team has faced a lot of injuries, but not having (backup QB) Corbin (Berkstresser) ready to play against Vanderbilt can be laid entirely on the coaching staff."

"This is more for the coaching staff: we need an accurate, throw-first quarterback," Naif Bartlett wrote. "Neither Franklin nor Berkstresser will cut it."

Others wanted the team to keep their heads up.

"As many have pointed out, South Carolina and Arkansas were terrible in their first SEC seasons," Bartlett continued. "Haters gonna hate. We'll show em."

"Don't be fair weather fans," Tyrone Reece wrote. "I'll never pick a team over Mizzou."

"Yes, I am a little disappointed with the season, but I am NEVER disappointed in my team," Warren Kunish wrote. "You represent me and my state."
