Lois Evelyn Mae Gerzen, July 30, 1928 — Oct. 12, 2012, of Columbia

COLUMBIA — Lois Evelyn Mae Gerzen, July 30, 1928 — Oct. 12, 2012, was born to Savilla (Miller) and William T. Gash in Pekin, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Dibble and brother, Bert Gash, both of Bloomington, Ill.

She is survived by her husband, John Gerzen and three children: Debbie Fala of Baltimore, MD, Jerry Gerzen of Rocheport, MO and John B. Gerzen of Springfield, MO; and her sister, Donna Eades of New Hall, CA. Lois dearly loved her grandchildren, Allison Tritt, Tony Fala, Kelly McCarville, Tessa Gerzen, Megan and Alex Gerzen and Whitney and Gareth Greenwell. She was doubly blessed with two great-granddaughters, one of whom shared her birthday. They are Kensie McCarville and Abigail Tritt.

She graduated from Bloomington High School in 1946 and worked for State Farm Insurance in Bloomington, Ill., then for Shelter Insurance in Columbia, Mo. She belonged to the DAR and DUV and spent many hours compiling the family genealogy. She loved her Sunday School class friends at Parkade Baptist Church, playing Bingo and cards at the Senior Center, camping, traveling to Yellowstone National Park, wintering in Texas and shopping in Progresso, Mexico.

Viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home. Services will follow at 1 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, Lois requests donations to the Parkade Baptist Church Building Fund which can be sent to 2102 N. Garth, Columbia, MO 65202
