COLUMBIA — The Southeastern Conference released the conference schedule for next season and revealed that Missouri will not play Arkansas next season.

The news came as a surprise because a cross-division rivalry between the Tigers and Razorbacks was expected to begin in 2013.

"As we began working on the 2013 football schedule, it became apparent that the conference would need another year of the 'bridge' schedule to make everything work," SEC Commissioner Mike Slive said in a release.

The SEC released the conference schedule for the 2013 football season Thursday.

Missouri will play its first two conference games on the road at Vanderbilt and Georgia before hosting Florida.

Missouri is in the SEC's East division, so the Tigers play just two teams in the West division every year. In 2013, the Tigers will play Ole Miss and Texas A&M from the West division.

The Tigers will have played at College Station three years in a row by the time they finally host the Aggies next year on Nov. 30.

Missouri has scheduled three of its non-conference games for next season, so the Tigers need just one more non-conference game to complete the 2013 schedule.

The Mizzou Alumni Association announced Thursday night that the homecoming game would be Oct. 26, 2013 when Missouri hosts South Carolina.
