Fire damages duplex on Hendrix Drive

COLUMBIA — A duplex on Hendrix Drive caught fire about noon Thursday. The damage was estimated at about $35,000, according to a release from the Columbia Fire Department.

No one was in the duplex when firefighters arrived, and there were no injuries, the release stated.

Firefighters extinguished the fire on the outside of the duplex and the fire that had traveled into the attic.

The attic, an outside wall, a bedroom and a bathroom ceiling were damaged by the fire. There was light smoke and water damage to the remainder of the four-bedroom duplex.
