Todd Akin has made many offensive comments during this campaign, but what Missourians should really be offended by is what Akin actually believes.
Akin believes that the federal government should not back student loans and that the banks should decide who will go to college. If this happens, middle- and low-income students will be left behind and not given the chance at higher education.
Akin's extreme positions will hurt our middle-class families in Missouri. We need our talented students to attend college and to become the leaders of tomorrow.
