Armed home invasion and robbery in north Columbia

Monday, October 22, 2012 | 11:14 a.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — Police reported an armed robbery in a fast food parking lot and a home invasion, both in north Columbia, in the past two days.

Around 9:30 Sunday night, two men stole money, a wallet and a laptop computer from a 25-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman in the parking lot between Taco Bell and Home Depot on Clark Lane, according to Public Information Officer Latisha Stroer of the Columbia Police Department.

Stroer said the woman, who was driving the car, noticed two women staring at her from inside a red Dodge or Chrysler four-door sedan. The woman pulled up to the car, and then two men got into the back seat of her car and stole the items. The victims were uninjured, Stroer said.

In a separate home invasion incident around 1:30 Monday morning, two men with guns entered a house in the 1100 block of Madison Street and stole money, according to Stroer.

The men then hit two victims, a 27-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman, on their heads with the guns. The man and woman were uninjured, Stroer said.

Stroer said the robbers left the house on foot, heading south. Police used dogs to track the men but were unsuccessful.

Do I have this straight? The woman who was robbed saw two other women "staring" at her, so she drives up beside the "staring" car and gets robbed???????????

Why did you do this? To serve up a bit of lip of your own? A bit of posturing on your own behalf, a response to some sort of perceived disrespect towards you?

If my summary is incorrect, I apologize and will hope for clarification. But if I'm spot-on....what the hell were you thinking????????????

Michael, just to settle your curiosity about why someone would do this. It's because said someone wanted to buy something from the said lookers and then the lookers decided to take their money and some of their stuff and not give them the illigal items that were trying to be purchased. IMHO that is...

Mike: Well, um...I hadn't thought of that particular scenario.

Begs the question of.....why report it?
