COLUMBIA — Missouri guard Phil Pressey was named Southeastern preseason Player of the Year in voting by a panel of SEC and national media members Monday.

Pressey, who was also selected to the First Team All-SEC, was not the only member of the Tigers to receive preseason honors. Senior guard Michael Dixon was selected to the Second Team All-SEC, while the Tigers as a whole were selected to finish third overall in the league.

Kentucky was selected to win the conference.

The Tigers have received multiple preseason honors thus far. The Sporting News ranked Missouri No. 10 in its annual preseason rankings, while the ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ poll ranked them No. 17.

Missouri opens up preseason play Oct. 29 against Northwest Missouri State. Regular season play begins Nov. 10 against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, and conference play starts Jan. 8 against Alabama.
