COLUMBIA — A Columbia man plead guilty to first-degree endangerment of the welfare of a child Monday afternoon.

Ronald Stephen Weathers admitted in Boone County Circuit Court he failed to provide adequate supervision for a minor, which resulted in that minor's sexual assault.

Weathers was one of two men arrested in September 2011 for allegedly sexually assaulting a 7-year-old boy in June 2011.

Prior to his plea agreement, Weathers faced two counts of first-degree statutory sodomy, according to court documents.

Assistant prosecutor Tracy Gonzalez recommended to the court that Weathers be sentenced to four years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Weathers' final sentencing is set for Nov. 26.
