COLUMBIA — The Missouri wrestling team will start the season tied with Cornell at No. 7 in the USA Today/NWCA/AWN Division 1 Preseason Coaches Poll.

It will be the 11th straight season that the Tigers have debuted in the top 15. Their only higher ranking was in 2008, when they started the season at No. 5.

Minnesota was the top-ranked team, earning seven of the 10 first-place votes.

Missouri, which won last season's Big 12 Conference Championship, enters the Mid-American Conference this season, where it is the league's top-ranked team.

The Tigers start competition Nov. 3 with the annual Black and Gold Meet, followed by their regular season opener against Purdue University and and Old Dominion on Nov. 10 in West Lafayette, Ind.
