COLUMBIA — The Boone County Sheriff’s Department is looking for Brian K. Burns, who has been charged in a sexual assault that happened Oct. 15, according to a Sheriff's Department news release.

The assault victim told authorities that he kicked down the door of her home at Millbrook Drive at about 1:30 a.m. and later sexually assaulted her.

When he fell asleep, she left and called authorities, but Burns had gone before police arrived, according to the release.

A 6-month-old girl was at home, but she was not harmed.

Burns, 23, of St. Louis, has also been charged with felonious restraint and first-degree burglary, according to the release.

According to the Sheriff's Department, he has friends in Columbia. Anyone with information can call CrimeStoppers at 875-8477.
