JEFFERSON CITY — Republican gubernatorial candidate Dave Spence has put an additional $1 million into his campaign to oust Democratic Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon.
Online campaign finance reports show that Spence has now loaned or given his campaign $6 million since declaring his candidacy last year. The latest contribution is dated Friday. That means the money can be used for an advertising push in the final week before the Nov. 6 election.
Nixon's campaign sent out an online fundraising plea Sunday seeking to counter Spence's money.
Through the end of September, Nixon's campaign had more money in its account than Spence's. New finance reports are due to be filed Monday with the Missouri Ethics Commission.
