COLUMBIA – Missouri women's soccer players Alyssa Diggs and Dominique Richardson were named to All-Southeastern Conference first team on Monday in voting conducted by the league’s coaches. The Tigers were one of just three schools to have more than one selection to the first team.

In addition, Candace Johnson was named to the SEC All-Freshman team and senior Allison Hu was named the SEC Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Diggs, who was named to the All-Big 12 Conference first team last season, is tied for second on the team with 15 points on seven goals and an assist despite missing five games because of injury. She ranks sixth in the SEC in goals per game (0.50), seventh in points per game (1.07) and tied for ninth in total goals.

Richardson, who started all 19 games at midfield this season, ranks fourth on the team in minutes played and has recorded four goals and an assist for nine points. Three of her goals were game-winners, including the winning tallies against South Carolina and Alabama. Richardson was All-Big 12 second-team in 2011 and was named to the Big 12 All-Newcomer team in 2010.

Johnson started 17 games for the Tigers at defender. She scored Missouri's first goal of the season against No. 11 Memphis in the season opener and played every minute of 14 games.

Hu shares honors with Rafaella Souza of Ole Miss. Hu, who holds a 4.0 GPA in Health Sciences, has started all 19 games for the Tigers at central defender and is the only Tiger field player to play every minute this season. She helped Missouri record six shutouts during the regular season and allow less than a goal per game.

Missouri starts play in the 2012 SEC Tournament on at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Orange Beach, Ala. The fifth-seeded Tigers take on fourth-seeded Kentucky in the quarterfinals at the Orange Beach SportsPlex.
