LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Hensley's environmental record shows she's right for Fourth District

I support Teresa Hensley, the current Cass County Prosecutor, for U.S. representative in the Fourth District.

I am a member of Sierra Club, which is the nation's oldest and largest grassroots environmental organization. The Sierra Club is supporting Hensley. She is in favor of clean air, clean water and family farms. Passing the farm bill is one of her major objectives. She is backed by labor and will see to it that jobs are created.

Her opponent, Vicki Hartzler, has an abysmal environmental record. According to the League of Conservation Voters 2011 scorecard that tracks environmental votes in Congress, she voted for environmental issues only 9 percent of the time. In addition, Hartzler voted for Paul Ryan's budget making major reforms to Medicare. Hensley supports keeping Medicare in its current form. She will make a fine U.S. representative.
