Rock Bridge boys soccer team wins district tournament

The Rock Bridge boys soccer team won its second Class 3, District 9 title. Rock Bridge defeated host Blue Springs South High School 3-1 on Wednesday evening.

The Bruins took control early in the first half with goals from junior midfielder Salim Gumati in the seventh and 31st minutes, according to the team's Twitter feed. The Bruins led 2-0 at halftime. Rock Bridge sophomore midfielder Connor Blitz scored 10 minutes into the second half to give the Bruins a three-goal lead.

Blue Springs South scored with 15 minutes remaining in the match. The win puts the Bruins into the state tournament. They will enter the 16-team state championship bracket with a record of 19-7-1 for the season.

Rock Bridge's next game is on Nov. 6, when they will face the winner of the Class 3 District 10 final between Jefferson City and Camdenton. The Bruins didn't play Camdenton this season, but Rock Bridge defeated Jefferson City 1-0 on Oct. 16.
