COLUMBIA — A woman was shot in the hand Wednesday night after a bullet was fired into her apartment on Demaret Drive.

Residents in the 700 block of Demaret Drive reported hearing an argument between two men in the street, followed by about 20 gunshots, according to a news release from the Boone County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies were called to the scene at about 12:30 a.m. and found bullet holes in the woman's home and in a nearby apartment building. Residents also reported seeing a newer white four-door vehicle and gold four-door vehicle leave the scene shortly after the shots were fired, according to the release.

Also on Wednesday, deputies arrived at 10:30 p.m. to the 4300 block of West Southview Drive in response to a call reporting gunshots. Deputies found bullet holes in one of the residences on the block, but no one was in that residence at the time of the shooting, according to the release.

Deputies are still looking for suspects in the two shootings and do not know whether the shootings were related.

Anyone who can provide information about the incidents should call CrimeStoppers at 875-8477.
