COLUMBIA — A doubleheader against visiting Lyon (Ark.) College meant Columbia College would possibly play 10 sets Saturday afternoon.

The Cougars (34-1) had no intention of dragging matters out that long, however. They swept the matches 3-0, 3-0 to run their regular season winning streak in the American Midwest Conference to 156.

That's where the record will sit until next season. No. 1 seed Columbia College begins postseason play on Tuesday night at home against No. 8 seed Stephens College in the AMC Tournament.

Saturday's matches were never really in doubt. The Cougars dominated the first contest 25-10, 25-11 and 25-13. Lyon College fought harder in the second match but still fell 25-17, 25-18 and 25-13.

The Cougars posted 49 kills to the Scots' 15 in the first match and 40 to 15 in the second. Junior Kahoriz Feliz led all players with 30 kills in 47 attempts.
