COLUMBIA — With five days left before its online pledging deadline, Ragtag Cinema has reached its goal of $80,000 to help pay for the theater's shift to a digital format from film.

Currently, more than 900 people have pledged more than $81,000. The campaign started on Sept. 30 and will end Saturday.

If the theater had not reached its goal by Saturday, the people who had pledged their money would not have been charged, Ragtag Cinema's Operations Director Cory McCarter said.

"It's an all-or-nothing system on Kickstarter," an online donation website, he said.

The larger of the cinema's two theaters needed $20,000 for a server and sound system and its smaller one needed $60,000 for a digital projector, server and sound system.
