Beuna Alma Ridenhour Lansford, 90, of Columbia, MO passed away November 4, 2012.
She was born in Osage County on December 11, 1921 to Rainey Hugh and Cecil May (Harrison) Ridenhour.
On May 25, 1945, she married Raymond Lansford in Belle, MO and he survives.
Beuna was a teacher for 35 years. She was also very involved with her community as a member and Club President of Altrusa, helping to create a juvenile home, volunteering at an abused women’s shelter, and working at a diabetic camp, as well as being the hostess of the Ronald McDonald Family Room in Boone Hospital Center for three years. Beuna was a member of Pi Lamba Theta, Phi Chi Theta, Kappa Delta Pi, Pi Omega Pi, and Sigma Sigma Sigma.
Beuna was a local, state and national officer of P.E.O.
In 1969, she received the Outstanding Citizen Award from the Columbia Board of Realtors, and in 1985 she received the Peace Medal from the Freedom Foundation of the United Nations.
She enjoyed China painting, knitting, reading, swimming, and supporting her husband in Kiwanis.
In addition to her loving husband, Beuna is survived by her nephew, John Krieg (Betsy) of St. Louis; cousin, Dr. Gene Ridenhour M. D., of Columbia; and many close friends.
She was preceded in death by her siblings: Buel and Bulah, and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Memorial Funeral Home, with a visitation beginning at 1:00 pm until the time of service. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
