Columbia College women's basketball loses second-straight to ranked opponent

COLUMBIA — The Columbia College women's basketball team lost to Campbellsville University 77-68 on Monday night at the Arena of Southwell Complex. The defeat was the Cougars' second straight against a ranked NAIA opponent. 

Columbia College trailed 34-31 at the half before taking a 44-43 lead with 12 minutes remaining in the game. The Cougars did not lead again, and the Tigers extended their advantage to as much as 15 in the second half.

Junior Heather English led Columbia College with 22 points, and Julie Teeple and Lily Abreu each contributed 14. Campbellsville was led by Mackenzie Lee's 25 points.

Columbia College's previous loss came against the University of the Cumberlands on Saturday evening, 70-65.

The Cougars will play their first road game Saturday at Avila University in Kansas City.
