A section of Eighth Street to be closed Thursday

Wednesday, November 7, 2012 | 5:38 p.m. CST

COLUMBIA — Eighth Street from Walnut to just north of the Eighth and Walnut Parking structure exit will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday.

This is to allow for a crane to lift items to the roof of the Guitar Building, according to a press release by the Columbia Public WorksDepartment.

The alley behind the Daniel Boone City Building, which leads to the drive-thru window for utility payments, the exit from the Eighth and Walnut Parking structure and the entrance to the parking lot of Landmark Bank will remain open.

Motorist, cyclist and pedestrians should plan alternate routes and use caution in the construction area, the release said. All work is weather-dependent.
