COLUMBIA — Head coach Frank Haith announced Wednesday afternoon at Mizzou Arena that senior guard Michael Dixon will not be playing in the season opener against Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

"He still needs some time to clear up some stuff off the court," Haith said. "We still love him and support him, but we're excited about the guys we do have that are available to play this weekend."

Dixon is serving a suspension for violating team rules from earlier this season. Haith said there is no set time for his return.

Missouri opens its season at 4 p.m. Saturday.
