Columbia College women's basketball team stops Avila

COLUMBIA — After a slow start, Columbia College's women's basketball team stretched its lead to double figures twice in the second half before ending with a 69-64 win over Avila University.

Avila out-rebounded Columbia 48-29 but committed 23 turnovers.

Heather English led Columbia with 25 points. Columbia plays Robert Morris (Ill.) University at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Southwell Complex.
