The community outreach team at the Columbia Missourian is always looking for ways to get you more involved in what the newsroom is up to. This week, we're throwing in an added incentive.
We have two tickets to this weekend's Syracuse vs. Missouri game. Take us up on one of the invitations below by 5 p.m. Thursday and you'll be entered to win them.
1. Tell us what you wish we would cover.
Help create the newspaper you want to read. You can help direct our coverage by giving us news tips and story ideas. These tips can be about events, personal experiences or issues you want to know more about. Email your tips to news@ColumbiaMissourian.com, post them on our Facebook wall, tweet them to us or call Joy Mayer at 882-8182.
2. Contribute your photos, words or voice.
We have a section of our website called From Readers, where we share words, photos and videos straight from the community. Do you take pictures when you’re around town? Is there a public shoutout you’d like to give to a community group or a neighbor? Is something happening at your school, your church or your workplace that you wish our readers knew about? Submit your own From Readers posts or ask questions at submissions@ColumbiaMissourian.com.
3. Share your knowledge and experiences.
Just as you rely on us to give you the news insights, we rely on you to help us best cover that news. What do you know that you can share with us? The answer to that question might be something related to your work, where you’ve live, your hobbies or your family experiences. Contribute your expertise here, and learn more about the project here.
4. Come to our newsroom brainstorming sessions.
The Missourian staff gathers at 11 a.m. every weekday, and we invite you to join us as we talk about what we’ve published and flesh out ideas for future coverage. Stop by any time, and feel free to either hang back and listen or jump into the conversation. (Our schedule varies when MU classes aren't in session.) We're on the third floor of Lee Hills Hall, at the corner of Eighth and Elm streets in Columbia.
Your participation in any of those four invitations this week will get you entered in a drawing for two free tickets to the Syracuse vs. Missouri football game on Saturday. Winners will be informed by 5 p.m. Friday, but you can also check the Missourian's Facebook page Friday morning to see if you've won.
If you have questions about any of this, get in touch with Joy Mayer, director of community outreach.
Thank you for your time, and good luck.
