Freddie Tyler Rudkin loved his family, being outdoors

COLUMBIA — Freddie Tyler Rudkin, who went by his middle name, always had time for his family and a smile on his face.

"Tyler was very close to his brothers and sisters," said Robyn Nickles, Mr. Rudkin's mother. "And no matter what the situation, he always showed up with a smile on his face."

Mr. Rudkin, 18, of Ashland died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, after his car crashed on U.S. 63. He was pronounced dead at University Hospital.

Mr. Rudkin was born May 10, 1994, in Moberly to Brian and Robyn Nickles.

He graduated from Southern Boone High School in May and worked full time at an Arby's in Jefferson City. Before he died, Rudkin had requested information about a welding school in Tulsa, Okla., Robyn Nickles said.

Mr. Rudkin loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hanging out with his friends and playing sports. He played basketball and football and ran track as a student.

"He was quite the country boy," Nickles said. "He liked bull-riding, and he loved derby racing." 

His true passion, however, was spending time with his family.

"They're going to be lost without him," Robyn Nickles said. She added that Mr. Rudkin had a niece, Marionna Rudkin, who died in 2008. "We all believe God took Tyler so he can take care of her."

Mr. Rudkin is survived by his parents, Brian and Robyn Nickles; grandparents, Rick and Renee Rudkin of Macon, Raymond Nickles of Columbia and Cynthia Hart of Grove, Okla.; two sisters, Amber Rudkin of Columbia, and Ashley Dowell of Ashland; two brothers, Andrew Dowell of Ashland and Dalton Nickles of Warsaw; nieces and nephews, Braidan Jackson, Miley Dowell, Robbie Mathews and Kyran Minton; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.

His grandfather Harvey Hart also died earlier.

Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturdayat Robinson Funeral Home, 601 N. Henry Clay Blvd., in Ashland with memorial services to follow at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Robinson Funeral Home, 601 N. Henry Clay Blvd., Ashland, MO 65010.
