COLUMBIA — A Columbia man suspected of shooting three people in September was arrested Tuesday in Kansas City.
Christopher Dwayne Brown, 27, was wanted by the Boone County Sheriff's Department in connection to a disturbance at the 5900 block of Gregory Drive in September. Deputies found two people, a man and a woman, shot at the Gregory Drive residence while another man reported being assaulted in the incident. Columbia police discovered another man in a parked vehicle on Lawnridge Drive with gunshot wounds who was believed to be at the Gregory Drive residence at the time of the shooting.
Brown is charged with one count of first degree assault and two counts of second-degree assault. His bond has been set at $1 million.
The Sheriff's Department received a tip that Brown was at a residence in Kansas City and relayed the information to the Kansas City Police Department, Detective Tom O'Sullivan of the Boone County Sheriff's Department said.
Brown was arrested Tuesday afternoon by a violent crimes task force made up of Kansas City police officers and FBI agents, Kansas City Police Officer Darin Snapp said.
Brown is being held in the Jackson County Jail and will be transported to Boone County within the next few days. O'Sullivan said in a news release that all three shooting victims have been released from the hospital and are recovering from their wounds.
