R. Dean Long, April 6, 1950 โ€” Nov. 23, 2012, of Columbia

COLUMBIA — R. Dean Long, 62, of Columbia, formerly from Hallsville, went to Heaven on November 23, 2012.

Dean was the son of Rufus C. and Ethel I. Long. He was born April 6, 1950, in Syracuse, Kansas. He was lovingly married to Vicki at Mount Zion Church in Hallsville on December 31, 1998.

Dean worked in restaurant management, construction and at the MU Veterinary Teaching Hospital as Building Supervisor of Clydesdale Hall before his retirement in 2011.

Surviving relatives are wife, Vicki; daughters, Emily and Elysa, and stepson, Josh Newman, and families. Also surviving are three brothers, Ross, Blair, David, and a sister, Flo Nelson, and families.

Dean enjoyed his family and his many good friends.

Dean’s celebration of life will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel at 1610 N. Garth Ave., Columbia. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery.
