Columbia College men's basketball rolls to seventh straight win

COLUMBIA — The Columbia College men's basketball team beat McPherson (Kan.) College 96-60 on Saturday in the Thanksgiving Classic Tournament at the Arena of Southwell Complex.

The victory improves the Cougars, ranked 10th in the NAIA Preseason Top 25 poll, to 7-0 this season.

The Cougars had three players in double figures and led 50-31 by the end of the first half. They maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second half, shooting 64 percent from the field and 67 percent from 3-point range. The Cougars also hit 10 of their 11 attempts from the free-throw line.

Columbia College sophomore Zach Rockers led all scorers with a career-high 24 points on eight 3-pointers. Devin Griffin contributed a season-high 23 points, while Jordan Dressler (18 points), Tanner Sutton (11 points) and Brock Walker (10 points) also scored indouble figures.

Rockers and Dressler made the all-tournament team, and Griffin was named the events most valuable player.

The Cougars are set to play in next weekend's William Woods Classic in Fulton. Columbia College takes on Mid-Continent (Ky.) University at 6 p.m. Friday. They follow that up with a matchup against Lindenwood-Belleville at 4 p.m. Saturday.
