Columbia College women's basketball drops road game

The Columbia College women's basketball team lost 73-59 on Monday night at Campbellsville (Ky.) University, dropping the Cougars to 4-3.

Columbia College, ranked No. 21 in the NAIA, turned over the ball 32 times against Campbellsville, the No. 13 team in the NAIA. The Cougars allowed Campbellsville to get to the free-throw line 45 times and the Tigers converted 33 times from the stripe.

Heather English led the Cougars with 18 points. Lily Abreu added nine points and a team-high five rebounds.

Columbia College continues its Kentucky road trip with a 4 p.m. game Tuesday at No. 18 University of the Cumberland. The two teams met on Nov. 3 in Columbia, with the Patriots claiming a 70-65 victory.

"They're some tough teams," Cougars coach Mike Davis said by phone, "but that's who you want to be playing now."
