Columbia College volleyball wins first match of pool play at NAIA Tournament

The Columbia College women's volleyball team won its first match in the opening round of pool play Tuesday at the NAIA national tournament in Sioux City, Iowa, beating Carroll College 25-24, 25-15, 25-21.

Columbia College setter Paula Ferreira served an ace to score the final point of the match and led the team with 40 assists. Leading the Cougars in kills were Kahoriz Feliz (12), Brooke Simpson (11) and Kelly Corkum (10).

Columbia College will take on Madonna University at 1 p.m. Wednesday and then wrap up pool play at 3:15 Thursday against Oklahoma Baptist.

Following pool play, the top two teams from each pool will advance to Friday's bracket play. Semifinals and the championship match will take place Saturday.
