English reaches scoring milestone in Columbia College women's basketball loss

Heather English became the eighth player in the Columbia College women's basketball program to reach 1,000 points in a career Tuesday in a 76-63 loss at University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky.

English, a junior guard, scored 25 points for Cougars, who are ranked 21st in the NAIA at 4-4 and fell for the second time this year to 18th-ranked Cumberland (6-2).

Lily Abreu contributed 19 points, six rebounds and four assists, and Julie Teeple added 13 points and six rebounds for Columbia College.

The Cougars play next against Nazarene University at 7 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Areana of Southwell Complex.
