In these economic times, it would be a foolish and selfish move on behalf of Congress to take away or diminish any of the benefits of Social Security. An act by Congress to enhance the economic condition of the country should strengthen everyone's economic condition, not diminish it.
Congress needs to keep and strengthen the Social Security program. This program supports many who are not fortunate to have a sustaining wealth. All people should be taxed by their ability to pay. The less fortunate should not carry the bulk of the financial burden of the country while wealthy carry little or none.
Congress needs to stop writing bills about one item then adding items not directly related to the original bill. These riders are costly and usually waste taxpayer's money. This needs to stop. Bills should be written for one item with no riders attached.
The policy of Congress seems to be helping the people who have wealth and taking wealth from the many less fortunate to fund everything. The policy should be an equal burden to all. This makes everyone spend cautiously and reduces careless spending. This is the right thing to do.
