Columbia College volleyball team heads to national quarterfinals

The Columbia College women's volleyball team finished pool play at the NAIA national championships in Sioux City, Iowa, with a 3-0 record after a 3-2 win over Oklahoma Baptist University on Thursday.

The Cougars won the first, third and fifth sets with scores of 25-10, 25-18 and 15-8. Oklahoma Baptist's wins in the second and fourth sets came by scores of 25-14 and 25-21.

Brooke Simpson had 21 kills for the Cougars, Kahoriz Feliz had 15 and Carol Berger and Trinity Ojo each recorded 10. Elena Berroteran led the match with 23 digs. Feliz also had 18 digs and Simpson contributed 12. Paula Ferreira's 59 assists were a match-high.

The Cougars are now 40-1 on the season.

As the third overall seed in the tournament, Columbia College received a bye into the quarterfinals and will play at 8 p.m. on Friday.
