Columbia man's life to be honored at Willie's

COLUMBIA — Brian Daniel Kohl's life will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Sunday at Willie's Pub and Pool and The FieldHouse.

Kohl, 38, was employed at Willie's from 1996 until the time of his death, according to an obituary by Parker Funeral Service.

Kohl's body was found at Finger Lakes State Park on Nov. 25. The cause of death is currently under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol press release.

As of Friday morning, investigators had no new information, Sgt. Erik Eidson said.

The Boone County Sheriff's Department, Missouri Department of Natural Resources park rangers, Columbia Police Department and the Boone County Fire Protection District are also assisting in the investigation, according to the press release. 

The obituary indicates Kohl had been camping in the woods before he was found. Kohl, according to the obituary, was an artist and outdoorsman.

After attending Southwest Missouri State University and Lincoln University, Kohl traveled for a few years before settling in Columbia. He was married to Sarah Wells and had two sons, according to the obituary.
