Columbia College volleyball advances to NAIA Championship

SIOUX CITY, IOWA — The Columbia College volleyball team defeated the defending NAIA national champions, the University of Texas at Brownsville, in the NAIA National Tournament semifinals Saturday afternoon at the Tyson Event Center in five sets, going 25-22, 27-25, 25-26, 29-27, and 15-7.

The Cougars got off to a slow start, but gained momentum in the second set thanks to a hot hitting streak by outside hitter Kahoriz Feliz, who had 8 kills in the set and 19 total kills in the match. Columbia College carried its momentum into the third set, winning with ease. The Cougars dropped the fourth set, but came back and took the fifth set for the win. 

Columbia College will take on Concordia University Irvine (Calif.) at 8 p.m. in the Championship.
