COLUMBIA — Frank Robbins Dexheimer of Columbia died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012. He was 85.
He was born June 6, 1927, in Columbia to Dr. Frank E. and Louise (Robbins) Dexheimer.
Dr. Dexheimer graduated from Hickman High School in 1945 after serving as class president. The same year, he joined the Navy under the V 12 Navy College Training Program. He served his country in World War II from 1945 to 1947 and in the Korean War from 1954-1956.
After attending MU and the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Dr. Dexheimer received his medical degree in 1952. Upon completion of medical school, Dr. Dexheimer returned to Columbia, where he pursued a surgical career until his retirement in the early '90s.
Dr. Dexheimer's interests included hunting, classical music and Corvettes. He always enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Dr. Dexheimer is survived by his two grandchildren, Hunter Dexheimer of Baton Rouge, La., and Jasmine Dexheimer Linder of Portland, Ore.
His son, Kurt Robbins Dexheimer, and his brother, George W. Dexheimer, died earlier.
Visitation will be at noon Sunday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. Services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
