The Rock Bridge girls basketball team won 45-39 on Thursday at Smithville, prevailing over last season's Class 4 state runner-up despite missing one of its leading scorers.

Chayla Cheadle, a junior guard for the Bruins, was on the bench against the Warriors, resting an ankle sprain. Sophomore guard Sophie Cunningham stepped up to score 19 points, and Audrey Holt added nine points.

The victory improves the Bruins record to 5-0.
