AUXVASSE — An east-central Missouri man died after being shot in what authorities say might have been a case of self-defense.

Callaway County Sheriff Dennis Crane said 28-year-old Benjamin Harris of Auxvasse died after being shot early Thursday.

Crane said the two men got into an argument during a pool game at a bar, and Harris was asked to leave. After the other man left the bar, Harris followed him home and began a fight.

The sheriff said the second man called his office to report he had shot Harris in self-defense.

The Jefferson City News Tribune reported that Crane said the investigation is continuing but the second man's name is not being released.
