Ruth Buescher enjoyed bowling, family and friends

COLUMBIA — Ruth Buescher of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Columbia, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012. She was 85.

She was born in Columbia on Jan. 9, 1927, to Walter and Juan Hulen.

She graduated from Hickman High School. In 1946, she married Jim Buescher. 

For several years, Mrs. Buescher worked as a bookkeeper for McGlasson Construction. 

When she was younger, Mrs. Buescher, along with her husband, was an avid bowler. Following her husband's death in 1996, she took over the position he had held as secretary of the Missouri State Bowling Association. She was a member of the Columbia Bowling Hall of Fame.

The couple enjoyed recreational vehicle camping with friends and participating in bowling tournaments in various communities. She also enjoyed sewing and knitting.

Mrs. Buescher was also a Grand Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Wilkes Boulevard United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Buescher was a very caring person who enjoyed talking with her friends and family as often as she could.

She is survived by a son, Keith Buescher, and his wife, Wendy, of Mesa, Ariz.; a granddaughter, Kim Buescher Ross and her wife, Heather; and a two great-grandsons, all of Sedalia. 

Her husband, Jim Buescher, died earlier.

Friends may call from 1to 2 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop W. Services will follow at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
