Columbia bus routes will change during winter break

Monday, December 10, 2012 | 4:49 p.m. CST

COLUMBIA — The city bus system will suspend or curtail service on student-centric routes during the MU winter break.

As of Friday, the last day of the semester for MU students, several changes will be made to the Tiger Line and FastCAT routes.

Columbia Transit marketing specialist Christa Holtzclaw said in a news release that Tiger Line shuttles and the Black and Gold routes will not be in service from 6 p.m. Friday through Jan. 21. Service will resume on Jan 22.

The FastCAT Express, which began running in August, will offer limited service during the break.

FastCAT will operate from 6:25 a.m. to 6:10 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays; from 6:25 a.m. to 8:55 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays; and from 9:55 a.m. to 6:50 p.m. on Saturdays during the break. FastCAT will not be available on Sundays.

Columbia Transit also plans to stop all its transportation services on Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The exception is that the evening Tiger Line will run on MLK Day, which is Jan. 21, from 6 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

Supervising editor is Scott Swafford.
