COLUMBIA— Police officers responded to an attempted armed robbery at 812 N. Keene St. at 12:07 p.m. Tuesday, according to a Clery release from the MU Police.

The investigation revealed that a female victim and her 9-year-old son were sitting inside their car when a male approached, holding a handgun. The man got into the vehicle and demanded the woman take him to an undisclosed location, the Clery release said.

The woman exited the vehicle and hit the panic alarm on her key remote. The male then exited the vehicle and fled southbound on foot. No one was injured. The suspect is still at large, and the investigation is ongoing.
