Rock Bridge girls basketball drops first game of season

Saturday, December 15, 2012 | 10:59 p.m. CST

The Rock Bridge girls basketball team couldn't recover from a slow start and lost its first game of the season 47-42 to Quincy-Notre Dame on Saturday at the Rumble on the River at John Woods Community College in Quincy, Ill.

The Bruins (6-1) trailed 19-6 at the end of the first quarter, but came back to outscore the Raiders, last season's Class 2A Illinois state champions, in the next three quarters. But even with 24 points from sophomore guard Sophie Cunningham, the Bruins were unable to secure a victory.
