COLUMBIA  — A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle at the intersection of West Broadway and Fairview Road near HyVee on Sunday afternoon.

The man, who has not been identified by police, was walking southbound crossing West Broadway near Fairview Road when a purple Ford sedan traveling eastbound on West Broadway hit him, according to Columbia Police Officer Robert Hardt.

The man was sent to University Hospital, Hardt said. He did not know the type and severity of the man's injuries. The driver of the car was a juvenile.

Hardt said he did not know whether the right of way belonged to the driver or the pedestrian.
