Columba College women's basketball team holds off Peru State

COLUMBIA — The Columbia College women's basketball team beat Peru State 85-73 on Tuesday at Southwell Complex to even the Cougars' record at 5-5.

The Bobcats (4-9) pulled to within 62-61 with just under seven minutes to play, but the Cougars put the game out of reach with a 14-4 run.

Lily Abreu led Columbia College with a season-high 24 points. Heather English had 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Julie Teeple had 21 points and 11 rebounds. Teeple also had five of the Cougars' 15 steals.

The Cougars are set to play next after the Christmas break when they host the Cougars vs. Cancer Classic on Dec. 29 and 30.
