A New Year's Eve snow brought out snow plows and street sweepers in Columbia.

COLUMBIA — Snow showers began Monday morning across mid-Missouri resulting in two inches of snow accumulation by noon, according to the National Weather Service.

Snow showers continued throughout the afternoon and are expected to taper off around midnight Monday.

City crews and the Missouri Department of Transportation had crews out clearing and treating roads for most of the day.

The poor weather did cancel outdoor activities, including processions and fireworks displays, for the First Night celebration in downtown Columbia.
