COLUMBIA — A Columbia woman who took more than $257,000 from her employer was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison for tax evasion.

Thirty-seven-year-old Christine Diane Todd was sentenced Wednesday. She admitted that she defrauded Major Brands Inc. in Columbia while she was branch credit manager from January 2003 to October 2006.

She pleaded guilty to falsely reporting her income on her 2005 income tax return.

The Columbia Daily Tribune reported Todd processed payments from customers that were received in the mail. Todd admitted that she stole $257,688 from customers.
